The NSSLHA Executive Council (EC) met November 19, 2022, at the Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans-Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. Here, you’ll find the Summary Report of the meeting.
Executive Council members in attendance were President Gabrielle Howard, President-Elect Hailey Kingsbury, Vice President for Finance Izabelle Pinzon, Vice President for Planning Emily Lee, Vice President for Academic Affairs Tynashia Whitaker, Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy Sheila Mathew, Vice President for Programming (AuD) Whitney Bauman, Vice President for Programming (SLP) Rachel O’Brien, Vice President for Student State Officers (Western Region) Sierra Morrow, Vice President for Student State Officers (Central Region) Adriana Garcia, Vice President for Student State Officers (Northeastern Region) Emilia Gorecki, Vice President for Student State Officers (Southern Region) Allison Buroker, and NSSLHA National Advisor Dr. Kia Johnson.
NSSLHA Senior Director Alexis Redmond, ASHA Chief Staff Officer for Operations Kyle Vickers, ASHA Chief Executive Officer Vicki Deal-Williams, ASHA President Judy Rudebusch Rich, ASHA President-Elect Robert Augustine, ASHA Past President Lynn Williams, 2023-2025 National NSSLHA Advisor Dr. Belinda Daughrity, 2023 ASHA Convention Co-Chair for Audiology Jennifer Simpson and 2023 ASHA Convention Co-Chair for Speech-Language Pathology Kelly Farquharson were in attendance.
Opening Remarks
The Fall 2022 NSSLHA EC business meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, by President Gabrielle Howard.
ASHA 2023 Convention Co-Chairs Update
The 2023 Convention Co-Chairs, Kelly Farquharson and Jennifer Simpson, joined the meeting to share plans for the 2023 Convention in Boston, Massachusetts and led a discussion about involving students.
Leadership Activity
Redmond led a team building activity with all EC members.
ASHA Presidential Team Update
ASHA President Judy Rudebusch Rich, ASHA President-Elect Robert Augustine, ASHA Past President Lynn Williams, ASHA Chief Staff Officer for Operations, Kyle Vickers and Chief Executive Officer Vicki Deal-Williams joined the meeting to discuss current activities at ASHA.
National Advisor and National Office Updates
Dr. K. Johnson provided a National Advisor Update that included information related to next steps with advisor transition and remainder of the term activities. A. Redmond provided information related to staffing and closing out convention activities.
Recognition of Outgoing National Advisor
Howard led the Executive Council in presenting a card and gift in recognition of the outgoing National NSSLHA Advisor Dr. K. Johnson.
